Getting started

How to install tawk.to on your website

Adding tawk.to takes about two minutes. Once installed, the chat widget appears on every page and you can start replying to visitors right away — on web, iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.

Before you start

A free tawk.to account.
Access to your website's HTML, CMS, or tag manager.

Add the snippet to your site

Copy your unique JavaScript snippet from Admin → Chat Widget. Paste it just before the closing </body> tag.

Using Shopify, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or one of the 50+ supported platforms? Skip the code — install with a single click.

Confirm it's working

Reload your site in a private browser window.
Look for the chat widget in the bottom-right corner.
Send a test message — it'll arrive in your inbox within seconds.

Make it match your brand

From Admin → Chat Widget, set the accent color, choose the widget's position, write a custom greeting, and upload your logo. Changes go live immediately — no redeploy needed.

Want full control? Add custom CSS or use the JS API to drive the widget from your own product code.

Invite your team

tawk.to has no per-seat fees, so invite as many teammates as you like. Go to Admin → Property Members and send invites by email. New members can install the desktop and mobile apps to take chats anywhere.

Use Departments to route incoming chats to the right team — Sales, Support, Billing, or anything you define.

Troubleshooting

Widget isn't showing? Check that the snippet is on every page and not blocked by an ad-blocker.
Strict CSP? Allow embed.tawk.to in your script-src directive.
Single-page app? Use Tawk_API.showWidget() after each route change.
